Today, 53 years ago, an article appeared in the Berkshire Eagle about a young hippie troublemaker named Arlo Guthrie, who dumped a bunch of garbage in the town of Stockbridge, MA.
This innocuous article and tale of teenage stupidity launched one of the funniest and most iconic Thanksgiving songs of all time, "Alice's Restaurant."
Turns out the entire story was true.
That song later became one of the great anti-Vietnam War protests.
It has nothing to do with data, but it is fun history we wanted to share.
