It's cliche to say that small business is the backbone of America.
The data is conflicted on whether or not that's true. And to be honest, I don't want to get into the specifics if it's technically true or not.
As a resident of Central New Jersey, I can tell you that the best cheesecake I have ever had comes from a small business in the tiny town of Ringoes, NJ. It's called Maddalena's Cheesecake.
If you haven't had it, you are missing out.
Granted, owner Janet Maddalena is a personal friend. But I loved her cheesecake long before I met her.
Anyway, if her cheesecake was awful, I wouldn't say anything about it, whether we were friends or not.
It's nice to support small business, today and every day. So be sure to get out there and try something in a small shop in your town. You might be pleasantly surprised.
If you go to Maddalena's, be sure to drop my name and say hi to Janet for me.
